The Premio New York is a prize promoted by the Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, by the Italian Cultural Institute of New York, by the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America at Columbia University and by the DGAAP. Every year two Italian artists have the opportunity to realize a formative and artistic experience, expanding the relations and institutional contacts in one of the world capitals of contemporary art. The program is reserved for Italian artists under the age of 40 who work in the visual arts field and who have at least one personal exhibition. The grant provides the opportunity to have a study at the International Studio & Curatorila Program (ISCP) of Brooklin, participate in the cultural activities of the Italian Institute of Culture in New York and follow lessons in art history, film theory, visual arts and architecture organized by the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies at Columbia University.
Announcement 22.10.2020 - Due to the enduring COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers of Premio New York regretfully note the impossibility of guaranteeing the regular holding both of the selection scheduled for the month of September 2020, and of the residences planned for the period of January-June 2021. The Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and for Tourism (MIBACT) and the Directorate-General for the Promotion of the Country System (DGSP) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, joined by the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies at Columbia University, therefore announce the suspension of the 2020-21 edition of Premio New York. The organizers will announce any additional information on this matter.
