Premio Shanghai

The Premio Shanghai (Shanghai Prize) is a residency program for Italian and Chinese emerging artists aged between 18 and 35 years. There are six residences in the program, three reserved for Italian artists in Shanghai and three for Chinese artists in Italy. The award aims to allow artists to develop new areas of research thanks to the stimuli offered by the host culture. The award is a project born in 2011, from an idea of the Garuzzo Institute for Visual Arts – IGAV, and it is now supported by the DGAAP, the Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and by the Italian Institute of Culture in Shanghai, the Shanghai Promotrion Center for City and Design (SPCCD) and the East China Normal University in Shanghai - School of Design (ECNU-SOD).

Six winners, selected by two Committees comprised of experts and representatives of the organising bodies, will be offered the chance to spend two months, beginning in October 2017
